Genesis 50:20 "God meant it unto good"

Today, Elder Taylor takes us through the life of Joseph; specifically to show the true meaning of Genesis 50:20, which reads, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” Is this verse suggesting that God ordained the evil acts of Josephs brethren against him? We know that God is not the author of evil, so this cannot be the correct interpretation of the passage.
